Rove McManus’ actress wife Tasma Walton reveals that the couple is raising their daughter, Ruby, eight, to be free of gender stereotypes

Tasma Walton and Rove McManus have revealed that their young daughter is growing up without being forced to conform to stereotypical ideas about gender.

The 48-year-old former Home and Away star shares eight-year-old Ruby with TV comedian Rove McManus, who is also 48.

The couple, who have been married for 13 years, are trying to free their family from ‘boy and girl’ stereotypes.

Tasma tells this week’s Stellar Magazine that the idea first came about when a classmate told Ruby that blue was a ‘boy’ color ‘.

‘We say to our little girl,’ That’s crazy, isn ‘t it? No one owns a color. Anyone can choose any color they want, ” she said.

‘The parents of little boys need to have those conversations too,’ Tasma added.

The star went on to explain that she does not limit the types of toys or activities her daughter enjoys.

“It’s a fine line to walk between acknowledging the reality of the ‘guidelines’ we have in society, but also trying to give them the courage and excitement to know that they are not bound. by those observed rules, “she said.

“Because the choices you make do not hurt anyone or any other living being, you can do and be who you want to be.”

Rove and his TV star wife, who grew up in Geraldtown in Western Australia, tied the knot back in 2009, and the couple share one child.

The media personality is best known for his weekly talk show Rove Live on Network Ten.

The popular segment ran from 1999-2009 before moving to the US to host Rove LA on Fox8 from 2011 to 2012.

He recently made a return to TV with guest spots on The Project.

In 2020, the couple bought a $ 2 million home in Perth, following the completion of renovations to their $ 6.4 million home in Sydney’s Bronte.
