NCAA: Perpetual banks on late rally to slip past San Sebastian

MANILA, Philippines – Perpetual Help used a late bounce to recover from return San Sebastian, 61-57, in the NCAA Season 98 Men’s Basketball Tournament at the San Juan Arena on Saturday.

After being caught in a neck-and-neck affair in the first three quarters, Altas overtook the Golden Stags in a crucial fourth quarter to extend their record to 3-3.

“I told him to forget our game against the Lyceum. This is where we should gain our confidence. Our game plan was executed well, so it resulted in a win,” said Altas head coach Mike Saguigit.

Perpetual Help took a big lead in an 82-77 defeat to the Lyceum on Wednesday while San Sebastian played their first game under health and safety protocols.

Altas, trailing 51–57 in the middle of the fourth quarter, cruised to a 10–0 run with a Mark Omega Bucket with 3:29 remaining to capture the game 61–57.

Giallo Rezon fueled Perpetually for his third win with 14 points and five rebounds, while Omega finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

San Sebastian, which fell to 2-3 cards, relied on Cane Villapando with 14 markers and eight boards. Rommel Callahat had a double-double in the losing effort with 11 markers and 12 boards.
