Arsenal legend David Seaman has urged Gunners midfielder Granit Xhaka to remain calm during the team’s north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
Today (1 October) Arsenal return to Premier League action after the international break. They will lock horns with arch-rivals Tottenham at Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
Zaka is among those expected to make his Mikel Arteta debut against Spurs today. The midfielder has been in good form this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists in seven league appearances.
The Switzerland international particularly fell out with Arsenal fans and the captain’s armband was removed in 2019. He has turned things around in the Emirates with his performances in this tenure.
However, many people are still wary of Zaka’s ferocity, with Seaman being one of them. Significantly, this player has so far taken five red cards during his time in North London.
As Arsenal prepare to take on Tottenham, Seaman has expressed concern over Zaka’s reckless nature. Thus the great Gunners have urged the 30-year-old to remain calm during today’s match. Former goalkeeper on his podcast, says Seaman [via The Daily Mail],
“When you talk about those two in midfield for Spurs [Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur], I’m thinking, ‘Xhaka, keep your head up’. Keep your head up, because these are the kind of games where he can get in trouble.”
It remains to be seen whether Zaka, who took two yellow cards this season, will heed Seaman’s advice today.
