Don Hutchison has made it clear that Newcastle United boss, Eddie Howe, is his ‘Manager of the Year’.
It was Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp that walked away with both awards, after guiding his side to second in the Premier League table and winning both domestic trophies.
Added with that, the German might yet still win the Champions League, but the Reds have played every game possible this season, no team has ever done that in history.
But that shouldn’t hide away from what Howe did at Newcastle, taking a team winless after 14, heading towards relegation and then guiding them two points off the Premier League’s top ten.
Nonetheless, Hutchison made it clear on Premier League Productions that Howe is his ‘Manager of the Year’, as he urged his fellow pundits not to laugh at his claim.
“Manager of the year,” said Hutchison. “I don’t know why everyone is laughing.
“When he took over, Newcastle United had no wins. No manager has been in no wins after that amount of games (14) and survived.
“He has got Newcastle United close to the top ten. I mean Manchester City were favourites to win the league, so he (Guardiola) has done his job.”
EDDIE HOWE HAS TRANSFORMED THE MOOD AT ST JAMES’ PARK
This will probably be the first summer in a very long time where Newcastle fans will be smiling all the way.
Previously, they aren’t doing much business, sneaking in low-key signings, with a minimal budget.
They would then head into the season, without any expectations and a lack of ambition being shown, on and off the pitch.
But that is now going to be turned on its head, as Howe has transformed the mood at St James’ Park and Newcastle will be the main talking points of the summer transfer window.
