MANCHESTER CITY is ready to unleash Erling Haaland AND Julian Alvarez in the Premier League next season.

Pep Guardiola’s champions have scored more than any other top-flight team in Europe this season, adding 150 goals in all competitions.

But the Catalan manager still plans to shake things up for his latest bid for trophies next season with two new faces.

Norwegian superstar Haaland was at the Etihad Campus on Wednesday putting the finishing touches on his £51.4m transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

And he will be joined in pre-season training by River Plate’s Argentinian international star Álvarez.

Guardiola will get a good look at the 22-year-old forward, considered one of the best prospects in South America.

He was signed for £14m on transfer deadline day in January, but was allowed to stay at his current club until the summer.

According to City president Ferran Soriano, several clubs have already inquired about the player’s loan next season.

However, he says the current plan is for him to stay and be part of the first team at the Etihad next season.

Soriano said: “We have had many offers from clubs to loan Julián Álvarez, but he is not going to leave.

“He will do the preseason with us and I think he will stay. Barcelona was not among those interested”.

Álvarez had a prolific season in his homeland, scoring 26 goals in 39 games in all competitions.

His arrival, along with Haaland, could spell bad news for one of three strikers entering the final 12 months of their Etihad contracts.

Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez are waiting to see if City will offer them new offers or listen to offers for them this summer.

Brazilian star Jesus, 25, appears to be the most likely to break through in pre-season, with Arsenal and Tottenham among a slew of clubs seeking his signature.

Any additional money raised is likely to be spent on bolstering other areas of Guardiola’s side.

Soriano confirmed earlier this week that the champions will be looking to bring in a central midfielder this summer to replace the 37-year-old Fernandinho.

City have ruled out signings for Barca’s Frenkie de Jong and West Ham talisman Declan Rice.

But Guardiola remains interested in a deal for Leeds winger Kalvin Phillips.

However, that move for the England man will now be more difficult after his club avoided the dreaded drop in a dramatic final day of the Premier League season.

Striker Haaland has spent the last few days in Manchester and yesterday also visited his new team at the City Football Academy.
