THE FA Cup Final is here when Liverpool take on Chelsea in a tantalizing showdown at Wembley Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp’s side qualified for the final by beating Premier League title rivals Man City as they continue to hunt for a historic quadruple.

That leaves them facing Chelsea in a Carabao Cup final replay following the Blues’ comfortable 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace.

The match is Liverpool’s first FA Cup final in 10 years and Jurgen Klopp’s first.

team news

Liverpool received a welcome boost at Aston Villa on Tuesday when Roberto Firmino returned to the bench.

However, they have been hit hard ahead of the final as midfielder Fabinho has been ruled out.

Fortunately for Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have no further injury concerns beyond the Brazilian.

Thomas Tuchel has been given a boost ahead of the cup final with Mateo Kovacic fit despite being sent off at Leeds after receiving a terrifying tackle from Dan James.

Romelu Lukaku has now scored three goals in two games and Tuchel could offer him the last chance to redeem himself by starting at Wembley after a patchy season.

what they say

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.: “You know Kloppo is the master of being the underdog.

“He can convince you that you are the loser against Villarreal and against Benfica.

“It’s a miracle, a miracle, how they even draw against them.

“He can talk you into it and he does it all the time, he does it a lot of times.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: “Chelsea are a very, very well coached team. They have an idea for all the different areas of the game, that’s the way it is.

“They play a similar system to other teams, but on a different level. They’re very organized defensively and offensively they’re very talented.”

“We have no idea how Thomas will prepare, for example, they have so many different options in offensive areas.

“Werner, Ziyech and Havertz didn’t start the last game. All three could start, for example, and it gives a completely different dynamic to Mount, Lukaku and Pulisic.

“They can play with two strikers, one and two 10s. The only thing that is clear is that they defend with five on the last line.

“We played one final, one FA Cup final and it would be a real surprise if we met a weak team in that final.”

  • Lukaku attacks his own agent

Romelu Lukaku took to Instagram last night to criticize his own agent for suggesting he might be leaving Stamford Bridge.

Federico Pastorello said the Belgian would speak to the club about his future this summer, adding: “It’s obvious there was a problem.”

However, Lukaku posted: “I will never let anyone speak for me. I kept my mouth shut and focused on helping the team finish the season in the best possible way.”

“So if anyone [is] out there trying to say something about me and the club… not in my name.”

  • Perisic ‘gets to sign’

Chelsea have reportedly reached a deal to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan next season.

Italian broadcaster Mediaset says it would take a “sensational turnaround” for the Croatian star not to play his football at Stamford Bridge this season.

Negotiations over a new deal with Inter have reportedly stalled due to Perisic’s salary demands.

Chelsea and Liverpool have met three times this season and have played three draws.

In August, the Blues sent off Reece James at Anfield for a hand on the line but still comfortably held on for a 1-1 draw.

In January, Liverpool took a 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge, but Thomas Tuchel’s side came from behind with goals from Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic to pick up a point.

And in one of the most exciting goalless draws you’ll ever see, Liverpool won the Carabao Cup final on penalties in a game in which FOUR goals were disallowed.

  • We have no idea!

Jurgen Klopp says he doesn’t know how Chelsea will fare in the FA Cup final, given the myriad of options available to Thomas Tuchel.

He said: “Chelsea are a very, very well coached team. They have an idea for all the different areas of the game, that’s just the way it is.

“They play a similar system to other teams, but on a different level. They’re very organized defensively and offensively they’re very talented.”

“We don’t know exactly if they have two or three midfielders. It’s very interesting to prepare, to be honest. We played one final, one FA Cup final and it would be a big surprise if we ran into a weak team in that final.” .”

  • Retrospective scene

Despite being one of the hottest and most closely contested matches in English football, Chelsea and Liverpool have only met once in the FA Cup final.

That match was played at Wembley a decade ago in 2012.

At that time, Roberto Di Matteo’s Chelsea beat Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool 2-1 at the national stadium.

Ramires and Didier Drogba scored those goals for the Blues with Andy Carroll answering for the Reds.

Two weeks later, Chelsea would follow up FA Cup glory with the Champions League trophy, a feat Liverpool are looking to achieve this season.

  • Security violation

Wembley was forced to change its security company for today’s final after a reporter was able to get a job as an administrator for both the semi-finals and the fight between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.

It is alleged that the Daily Mail journalist was not interviewed or required to undergo any training before taking up the post.

A Wembley Stadium spokesman told Sky Sports News: “We take these allegations very seriously as they do not meet the high standards we expect from our management contractors.

“All of the contractors we use are contractually required to carry out adequate background and reference checks on anyone they recruit to work at Wembley Stadium.”

  • FA Cup Final

It’s the final day of the FA Cup as Chelsea take on Liverpool in what will be a gripping clash at Wembley.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are still on course to be the first team to win the quadruple but will need a win over the Blues to lift the second of four trophies.

In February at Wembley, the Reds secured the Carabao Cup with a penalty shoot-out win over the Blues in a memorable match in which Kepa was substituted for Edouard Mendy at 119.the minute and then not save a single penalty.

If Liverpool emerge victorious, they will have to overcome adversity to reverse a three-point deficit to the Premier League leaders with just two games remaining.

And then they will face Real Madrid in Paris in search of earning the status of immortals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are not fighting on four fronts and have been able to focus mainly on this match after their elimination in the Champions League quarter-finals at the hands of Real Madrid.

The Blues have effectively qualified for next season’s Champions League and Thomas Tuchel will be desperate to close out this season with a trophy.

The FA Cup has been the one that eluded Chelsea in the last two years, having been beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the 2020 final and then stunned 1-0 by Leicester in the final of the last season.
