Bayern boss Nagelsmann needs medical attention on touchline after losing voice

BAYERN MUNICH boss Julian Nagelsmann received medical attention on the touchline after losing his voice during their clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

The German champions comfortably cruised to a 4-0 win in the Bundesliga on Friday night.

But it was on the touchline that the strangest incident of the night took place.

In the 35th minute of the match, Bayern coach Nagelsmann lost his voice.

And, according to Bild, the team doctor was forced to come off the bench and give the coach some throat lozenges.

They seemed to have the desired impact when, two minutes later, Nagelsmann loudly celebrated Bayern’s third goal of the match.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Nagelsmann has experienced problems with his voice.

Speaking in 2019 about suffering the same fate during a match between RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim, he said: “Three or four years ago I went to a speech therapist in Heidelberg due to a thickening of the edges of the vocal cords.

“There I had to do a lot of breathing exercises and we also sang. Apparently that helped a lot.”

Bayern have struggled to get going in the Bundesliga so far this season.

But victory over Leverkusen moves them into second place in the table, two points behind Union Berlin ahead of the weekend’s action.

Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Sadio Mane hit the back of the net in the first half as Bayern cruised to victory.

And Thomas Muller added a fourth in the second half to secure his fourth league win in eight games.
